My involvement with the exhibition of the Retracing Footsteps materials at the Grosvenor Museum was to explore the possibilities for a contemporary visitor book in this world of social media and digital reviews.
The display used a book of pages from the Victorian visitor books displayed above a contemporary version for people to write in. When exploriong the Victorian sketches and free text, it was hoped any reticence people have in drawing and writing in a public form would be overcome. Elements from the Victorian books were used on the contemporary visitor book pages to engage and encourage visitor interaction.
I also designed the accompanying booklet that details the Retracing Footsteps project.
